This Or That || Book Edition

I have done a couple of these on Instagram, but never here, on my blog and I thought it would be a fun idea to try and do it now. I found this particular idea over on A fangirls opinion - you can go and check it out - and decided to do it as well.

So, here we go...

I can't deny that hardbacks look beautiful and can make your bookshelves look perfect; however, most of the time I prefer paperbacks. They are not only light and easy to carry around and handle, but also much cheaper. These are the reasons that I usually prefer paperbacks, but still I can't deny the charm of hardbacks, so if at some point I could invest more money in it, I would love to have a nice collection of hardbacks as well.

There are very few things in life that can beat the feeling of a bookstore, an actual physical bookstore. The smells, the shelves, the overall atmosphere, the book searching and the people are just a few of the things that make it a beautiful experience. In the more recent years, however, I have come to love searching and shopping online, as it offers more options, more editions of the book, and a bigger price range. Online shopping also offers more choices when it comes to second-hand shopping, which is something I've taken up in the more recent years and have come to love. To sum it up, I tend to gravitate towards online, but I'll never turn down a trip to the bookstore.

I love both, but my preference is usually series. Even though series take more of a commitment and take up much more of your time, and standalones could be much easier psychologically and mentally to read, I usually bond with the characters and commit to the storyline, and I love to keep going back for more, so I guess my choice here is series.

Both are fascinating, but what can I say, I'm a Sci-Fi girl. Not much more explaining or depth into this answer, I just usually prefer it, it talks to my heart.

I have discovered audiobooks in the more recent years, and I love them mostly because they give me the chance to read books that I wouldn't read otherwise. But physical books are uniquely magical, and I love them. I love reading them, I love buying them, I love collecting them, and as every proper book lover knows, these are all entirely different hobbies, so I'll pick the physical book.

I prefer indoor reading, because outside I get too distracted. I like to read in silence and enjoy the peace and calmness reading gives me, so I try to avoid too much distraction.

I've always been more of a night reader. I love to read before I go to sleep, at the end of the day, after I've done all my work and chores, and when I'm relaxing. It gives me a little bit more relaxation and calmness. I hardly ever read in the morning as I'm usually working or studying.

I am a slow reader for the most part. I have done my share of binge reading, especially when I was younger. But for the last few years, I have been a slow reader, both because of limited time and personal preference. As a matter of fact, I have talked all about it in one of my previous posts, which you can check out here.

I can't choose for that one, I'll just say both. And honestly, sometimes you will get both in the same work. The same book that can make you cry your eyes out can also make you laugh your heart out. If we had books that strictly belonged to one category or the other, I wouldn't be able to choose, as I think I would need and enjoy both for different times and occasions in my life.

I always read in silence. I don't want any distractions while I read, I enjoyed more that way.

I mean, both... For me, it doesn't matter that much if the character is a hero or a villain; what matters to me is that the character is well-written, rounded, and interesting. If these criteria are met, he could be a hero, a villain, an anti-hero, a morally gray character or whatever. I enjoy reading about deep, and interesting characters, and more often than not, a strong hero will coexist with a strong and interesting villain and vice versa and create a compelling dynamic.

Both can be done well, and I have good examples of both in my mind, but if I had to choose, I would pick character-driven stories. I feel that a character-driven story that has even a mediocre execution could still be better than a very well-done plot-driven story, because, as it is in life, in most stories, every little thing is being moved and controlled by people, by characters. People or characters are usually the driving force behind most decisions and actions. There are only a few things that people or characters cannot control, but still, it is human choices regarding those uncontrollable situations that can change the route of events. So, a story that pays attention to the driving forces behind the incidents, I feel, would be the strongest story possible. Stories are usually about people,  after all. Even if the story is plot-driven for the most part,  the characters should still be interesting, memorable, and have agency. A story in which the plot pushes and pulls the characters around, while the characters have little to no say in the outcome, feels like a poor story to me.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing it. If you liked it, feel free to do it as well and tag me so that I can see your answers. Also, you can always leave a comment down below, I'd love to read your thoughts.

Thanks for reading!

Spooky Would You Rather || Book Tag

 Hello, book-friends!

October is almost over and Halloween is just around the corner so I decided to do a fun book tag for this post. I found this tag over on The Sassy Book Geek's blog so you can go and check her out because she has some amazing content!

  1. Thrillers or Supernaturals?
I've read plenty of both and I love both so I'm having a bit of a hard time choosing, but I'll pick thrillers for this one...

  2. Ghosts or Zombies?
That was an easy one since I'm not really a zombie fan. Plus, ghosts can have many different interpretations and many different ways to be written and executed. It could be good ghosts, bad ghosts, ghosts you can see, ghosts you cannot see but only hear, ghosts from 1000 years back or ghosts from 50 years back, ghosts that can or cannot affect the protagonist's reality, ghosts that can or cannot be resurrected back to life and the list goes on... So, to conclude, I'll easily pick ghosts over zombies. 👻👻👻

  3. Vampires or Werewolves?
That one is a bit complicated since we've seen many different kinds of vampires and different kinds of werewolves, so I would say that it depends on the type of werewolf/vampire.

  4. Witches or demons?
I'm not very much into demons and demon stories and I really like witches, so witches any day.

  5. Would you rather read a book with 13 chapters or a book with a black cat on the cover?
I'm not superstitious in general and neither of these two bothers me, but I'll pick the black cat cover because I really like black cats!

  6. Would you rather read a spooky book in the dark with only a candle for light or by yourself in a locked brightly lit room?
I don't really mind the darkness and being locked in a room seems pretty scary by itself. And if I had to be reading something spooky in one of the two settings I'd easily pick an open room - even if it was dark - rather than a closed space, because then I could easily get out of the room 💃 to get fresh air and feel less scared, whereas if I couldn't escape it would feel even scarier.

  7. Would you rather face your worst fears or be trapped in the mind of a killer?
I mean... being a writer... I have to accept that being in the mind of a killer would be rather interesting... 😇 And it could probably give me ideas for a story or two... 😅 And it still doesn't feel remotely as scary as being trapped in a room with cockroaches (which is one of my biggest fears) so I'll pick the killer. Besides, it wouldn't even have to necessarily be a bad killer, it could be like an avenger type of killer, or maybe a killer that kills rapists and criminals, right? 😅😂 And I'd so dig this... 😂

  8. Would you rather watch a scary movie or read a scary book?
Either one is fine for me, I like them both.

  9. Would you rather read spooky books during the fall time or all year?
I would rather read them any time of the year I feel like it. I'm kind of a mood reader and I want to read whatever I feel like reading at a given time, not specific things at specific times...

  10. Would you rather read 10 spooky books in October or 10 spooky books all year?
I doubt I would have time to read as many as 10 books any given month. My time is limited in general and I'm a slow reader on top of this so I couldn't read 10 books of any genre in a month, so I'll say I'd like to read 10 spooky books spread throughout the year...

I really enjoyed this tag and I hope you enjoyed it as well. If you did, then feel free to tag yourselves and do it as well or comment your opinions down below... I'd love to read them all.

Book Adaptation Tag || Who did it better book or movie?

Hello book friends!

I wanted to make a fun post this time and I haven't done a tag in a long while so when I found this one I couldn't resist. I found it on The never-ending chronicles of Jawahir the bookworm so you can check it out there. So, here we go...

What is the last book adaptation movie you watched?

The last book adaptation I watched is "Bridgerton" - which by the way is adapted into a series, not a movie - and which is inspired by the "Bridgerton" books by Julia Quinn. I enjoyed the first season very much and I'm now watching the second season which is inspired by the second book in the series. However, I haven't read any of the books yet, so I can't form an opinion about them.

What book-to-movie adaptation are you most excited about?

This will definitely have to be "Dune" which, even though has been released for some time now, I have not watched yet and I'm very excited to watch it soon.

Which upcoming book movie will you definitely not see?

I don't have an answer for this one, both because I cannot think of a story I wouldn't care about enough to watch and because even if I did, I would still most probably give it a try since I really enjoy adaptations and I like to be able to form an opinion on them.

Which book movie would you never watch again?

That's easy... "Paper Towns" by John Green. I generally like John Green, but this book just wasn't for me and neither was the movie. If anything, it was even worse and I don't think I'm going to give either one of them a second try.

Is there a movie you saw that made you want to read the book if you had not yet?

This will have to be "The handmaid's tale". This one is also a series, not a movie and it's based on the iconic book of Margaret Atwood. I absolutely loved the TV series, it is among my favorites, and from the first moment I started watching it, it made me want to read the book as well. This book is so very much up my alley; it is dystopian, it talks about women, about freedom and politics, it is scary and its very concept makes your hair stand on edge. So, I will most definitely read it soon!

Conversely, is there a movie that made you never want to read the book?

I will have to say the "Percy Jackson" series by Rick Riordan. The first movie is not all that bad, even though I've had not the best comments about it and I know that it's not a very faithful adaptation, I still didn't hate it, I kind of enjoyed it. But I also had my issues with it and, by the end, I was sure I wasn't interested in reading the books, even though I have heard the best about them and I know they have a very big audience that loves them. Maybe it's because this series just wasn't for me, maybe it could be because I'm Greek and my idea of Greek-mythology-inspired stories is biased, or maybe I'm just a bit old for them... Whatever the reason, I don't really care about reading them.

Have you ever left the theater because the movie adaptation was so bad?

No, so far I have not left the theater because of a bad movie - adaptation or not.

Do you prefer to watch the movie first or read the book first?

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I don't mind at all, both are fine with me and I can enjoy either one equally for different reasons. But if I absolutely had to choose, I'd say that book first is probably the slightly preferable choice in most cases.

How do you feel about movie adaptations that age characters up? (ex. Characters that are in middle school, but in the movies, they’re all 18+)

It depends on the story, the movie, the actors, and the reason behind the choices. Usually, I prefer accurate adaptations and casting choices, but if there is a good reason I could understand it.

Do you get angry when the actors don’t look like you thought the characters would?

I can't say I get angry but I definitely feel disappointed. It is a little bit frustrating when the characters look nothing like the description. I don't mind small changes or small differences but when there is a big difference or if the detail that is changed is very crucial to the plot then I will get disappointed.

Is there a movie you liked better than its book?

There are actually a few movies I enjoyed more than the books. One of them is "The Fault in our Stars". The is a very good book and I loved it, but I think I enjoyed the movie a bit more. Still, both of them were great and are among my favorites! But, for me, I lean a bit more toward the movie.

Then there are "The Maze Runner" books. Again, I quite enjoyed the books I thought they were good but I like the movies even more and I think they did a very good job adapting the story. The movies are quite different from the books, especially the "Scorch Trials" and "Death Cure" movies, but I believe that the changes that were made were made for the better and only improved the story. The things that were cut or changed improved the story a great deal and made it more interesting, so, in the end, I enjoyed the movies much more than the books.

Name a book that you would love to see as a movie.

The "Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" by Suzzanne Collins has come out recently and I am a huge fan of anything related to the "Hunger Games". I have read the original trilogy and I have watched the movie repeatedly and I absolutely love them all. Additionally, these adaptations are probably the most faithful book to movie adaptations, the attention with which they were made, and the work done with them was phenomenal. Naturally, I am eager to read this book as well and I hope it gets turned into a movie because I can't wait to watch it!

So, these were my answers, I hope you liked them and enjoyed this post. If you liked this tag, feel free to do it yourself and feel free to tag me or show them to me! You can also tell me your answers and opinions down in the comments, I'll be really interested to hear them and discuss them with you!

Goodreads Book Tag

Hello, my amazing book friends!

It's been a long time since my last post, but I'm still here and I've come back with a book tag so that we can start again with a light and happy post! I found this book tag on Zeezee with Books' blog, but it was apparently originally created by Words of Clover Youtube Channel so if you like this tag you can go and check them out as well. So let's go...

  • What was the last book you marked as read?
The last book I marked as "read" is the comic book "Avatar the Last Airbender: Shadow and Bone - Part 2".

  • What are you currently reading?
I'm currently reading two books:
(A) "Avatar the Last Airbender: Shadow and Bone - Part 3", and
(B) "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"

  • What was the last book you marked as TBR?
I've heard only the best comments and reviews about this book and I can't help but be curious and want to read it! "Piranesi" by Susanna Clarke.

  • What book do you plan to read next?
That will have to be "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" because I really need to finally be done with this series.

  • Do you use the star rating system? ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I don't particularly like this rating system or take it too seriously, but I use it, yes, and I try to use it as well as possible.

  • Are you doing a 2022 reading challenge?
Yes, I have been doing the Goodreads reading challenge since 2018 - sometimes more successfully than others - and I'm doing it this year as well.

  • Do you have a wishlist?
I don't know if this is a feature on Goodreads, if it is I've never used it, but I kind of have a wishlist of books in my head.

  • What book do you plan to buy next?
I have no idea, honestly. I very rarely buy books anymore, so I haven't given it much thought. My wishlist is definitely bigger than I can afford and most certainly bigger than my house can fit, so I have to be selective.

  • Do you have favorite quotes? Would you like to share a few?
I have like 300 quotes and I love many of them, so it's really hard to pick just a few, but I will try...

"We accept the love we think we deserve."

"It is our choices that show what we truly are far more than our abilities."

"It takes 10 times as long to put yourself back together as it does to fall apart."

"Oh, to reach the point of death and realize one has not lived at all."

"Change is the end result of all true learning."

"A mind needs books like a sword needs a whetstone if it is to keep its edge."

  • Who are your favorite authors?
I like many authors for many different reasons, so I can't really pick.

  • Have you joined any group?
I have joined three groups that I've been invited to, but to be honest, I haven't spent time on any of them so I don't really know what's going on with them...

  • Who do you tag?
I tag anyone who liked this tag and wants to do it! I would love to see other people's answers!

This tag was nice and different. I enjoyed it and it also gave me a new post idea. The question about the quotes was my favorite one, it made me want to go through my favorite quotes and remember why I love them and what they mean to me. So this gave me the idea to make a new blog post entirely about these quotes so that I can analyze them and explain my thoughts on them. Would you be interested in a post like this? Would you read it? Please let me know...

Oh, and of course, I shouldn't forget... Please, feel free to add/follow me on Goodreads. I'm always excited to find more reading buddies! For the link click the image below...

Thank you for reading!

New Years Book Tag & my Bookish Goals for 2022

 Hello everybody!

I like to create a post like this every year talking about my Bookish Goals for the year. But this year I decided to change it up a little and combine it with this book tag I found over at The Bookworm of Notre Dame blog for a post she did back in 2020 but was apparently first created back in 2018 by Heather on her YouTube channel Bookables.

  • How many books are you planning to read in 2022?

So, if you remember from the past posts I've made, I usually give myself relatively easy and achievable goals. I do this for many reasons - psychological and practical as well - but I wouldn't like to become repetitive and tire you out of your minds, so I won't go on analyzing those now. But if you care to know a bit more about it, you can always go check my older Bookish Goals posts here and here.

I will continue this year in this same spirit of small, achievable goals. I will, however, make it just a little bit harder than last year. Last year my goal was to read at least 16 books, so this year I'm going to set my goal to 20 books and I am very optimistic about it.

  • Name 5 books that you didn’t get to this year but want to make a priority in 2022.
The first two are going to be obvious choices, for obvious reasons (because I need to finally be done with this series that I had been postponing for years and have been reading it for quite a while now). The other three books are just books that have been sitting on my TBR pile for a long time.
  1. "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" by J. K. Rowling
  2. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" by J. K. Rowling
  3. "Stardust" by Neil Gaiman
  4. "The Book thief" by Markus Zusak
  5. "The portrait of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde

  • What genre do you want to read more of?
I want to read a few more classics because I feel I've really neglected them and also more horror stories because I really enjoy them.

  • Name 3 non-book-related goals for 2022.
  1. Finish the first draft of my story and maybe even start a few first edits
  2. Be more consistent with the blog
  3. Lose some weight

  • What’s a book you’ve had forever that you still need to read?
"The scarlet letter" by Nathaniel Hawthorne. I've owned this book for many years now and I've always been curious to read it. Once I started it but ended up DNF'ing it. I've been thinking about starting it again but I still haven't gotten to it.

  • One word that you're hoping 2022 will be.
Can I say more than one?
Creative
Productive
Prosperous
Hopeful
Optimistic
Educational

  • Tag a friend!
There's no one in particular that I would like to tag, but if you like the tag, please go ahead and do it! I tag anyone who wants to do it!

***

So, I'd like to conclude the post by listing my bookish goals for 2022:
  1. Read at least 20 books
  2. Try to read every single day even if it's just a couple of pages
  3. Finish the Harry Potter series
  4. Read at least 1 classic book
  5. Read 1 Stephen King book (because I've been meaning to do it for a while)
  6. Read at least 1 non-fiction book
  7. Try to be more committed to the blog and consistent with my posting and improve the blog in general
  8. Listen to at least 1 audiobook
That's about it for me... I'm very happy with my goals for the year and I feel optimistic about how I'll do. Please, feel free to share your goals for the year, your expectations for the reading to come, and any other comments you may have. I'll be happy to exchange thought with you all!!!

Thank you for reading once more!

Reader Problems Book Tag

Hello friends! It's been a while since I last posted on the blog and all this time I've been reading a lot, but unfortunately I didn't really have the time for the blog. So I was looking for a fun and different post idea and I found this book tag over at ZEEZEE WITH BOOKS BLOG and decided to do it.

So here we go!

YOU HAVE 20,000 BOOKS ON YOUR TBR. HOW IN THE WORLD DO YOU DECIDE WHAT TO READ NEXT?
I usually decide what to read based on my mood. Do I feel like reading something light and fun or something heavy and serious? Do I feel like I can devote much time for a bigger series or do I feel like I'll be unable to commit? That's all there is about me really. Sometimes I try to at least read the ones that have been sitting on my tbr for a longer time, but I can't always do it. I also like to alternate between my reads for example if I read a heavier book now with a darker theme then I will definitely pick something lighter for my next read, etc.

YOU’RE HALFWAY THROUGH A BOOK AND YOU’RE JUST NOT LOVING IT. DO YOU QUIT OR ARE YOU COMMITTED?
I quit! I don't have time to spend on things I do not enjoy! I'll go to the next and spend my time on something I actually like rather than pressure myself into something I find unpleasant.

THE END OF THE YEAR IS COMING AND YOU’RE SO CLOSE, BUT SO FAR AWAY, ON YOUR GOODREADS READING CHALLENGE. DO YOU TRY TO CATCH UP AND HOW?
I try to catch up by reading comic books or audio books which take significantly less time and are still just as enjoyable. However, if even then I don't make it, I don't really mind. It's nice to catch up on my reading challenge, but I don't beat myself too much over it.

THE COVERS OF A SERIES YOU LOVE DO. NOT. MATCH. HOW DO YOU COPE?
As much as I hate this I would probably just let them be.

EVERY ONE AND THEIR MOTHER LOVES A BOOK YOU REALLY DON’T LIKE. WHO DO YOU BOND WITH OVER SHARED FEELINGS?
Probably just random people in the reading community on social media. I have plenty of pages and groups that I follow, YouTube channels and all that jazz that are followed by fellow Book Lovers and generally people from the same fandoms or similar tastes as me, so this is probably where I would feel more comfortable talking about my thoughts and discussing whatever came to mind. I would also probably rant about it on my blog.

YOU’RE READING A BOOK AND YOU ARE ABOUT TO START CRYING IN PUBLIC. HOW DO YOU DEAL?
If there is a place or a room close by that I can go for a moment and just sit alone I will do this but if I cannot do that I will probably try to not tear up or wipe the tears immediately and hide it. Or maybe I would just pause reading just before it got too heavy and continue reading when I get home.

A SEQUEL OF A BOOK YOU LOVED JUST CAME OUT, BUT YOU’VE FORGOTTEN A LOT FROM THE PRIOR NOVEL. WILL YOU RE-READ THE BOOK?
Definitely. No way I am getting into a sequel if I cannot remember what happened before.

YOU DO NOT WANT ANYONE. ANYONE. BORROWING YOUR BOOKS. HOW DO YOU POLITELY TELL PEOPLE NOPE WHEN THEY ASK?
I try to avoid it most of the times. I sometimes use excuses or little lies which I don't feel entirely great about but still... But if it is a friend of mine or someone that I really trust I won't be able to tell them no so just give it to them.

READING ADD. YOU’VE PICKED UP AND PUT DOWN 5 BOOKS IN THE LAST MONTH. HOW DO YOU GET OVER YOUR READING SLUMP?
I try to do something else something other than reading. I probably watch some of my favorite movies or a new series on Netflix. I listen to some music and just give myself time. I know I will eventually get back to it.

THERE ARE SO MANY NEW BOOKS COMING OUT THAT YOU’RE DYING TO READ! HOW MANY DO YOU ACTUALLY BUY?
I never bought many books to begin with but the last years I tend to buy even fewer. I usually prefer to borrow, buy second-hand, or download. Nowadays I just buy only a handful of books per year.

AFTER YOU’VE BOUGHT THE NEW BOOKS YOU CAN’T WAIT TO GET TO, HOW LONG DO THEY SIT ON YOUR SHELF BEFORE YOU GET TO THEM?
Again it depends on my mood just like I said before. There are books that I will read straight away because I was just in the right moment feeling the right way and then there are books that I will keep until I feel is the right time for me to read them.

***

I hope you enjoyed this tag as much as I did feel free to do it as well if you like it I would love to see all your answers and thoughts if you want to share them with me.

Until the next time... 😉

20 Questions Book Tag

I found this book tag over on Book Coffe Happy blog and I really wanted to do it, so here we go...

1) How many books are too many books in a series?

I don't think there is such a thing as too many or too few books in a series. It all depends on the genre, the story, the structure, and of course the author. As long as it is done well it can be one book or it can be 50. I only care if it is a good story and I believe a story should have as many books as it needs to be told nicely.

2) How do you feel about cliffhangers?

I love them! I love reading them, I love writing them, they're great! 😍💙😢

3) Hardback or paperback?

I'd love to have a combination of both. They both have pros and cons. But I guess ideally the answer would be: hardbacks for the bookshelves, because they look incredibly pretty, but paperbacks for the actual reading because they are lighter and softer to hold.

4) Favourite book?

I have many, but "The Hunger Games" series is one of my favorites and has remained on the top of my rankings for a long time.

5) Least favourite book?

"50 shades of grey"... Goodness I despise this book!

6) Love triangles, yes or no?

I usually do not prefer them, but I'm not completely negative about them too. If it is done well and written in an interesting way, it could work and I could like it.

7) The most recent book you just couldn't finish?

It's been a long time since I DNF'd a book, but maybe it was "City of Bones"...

8) A book you're currently reading?

I'm currently reading "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban".

9) Last book you recommended to someone?

"Living, Loving and Learning by Leo Buscaglia. I recommended it to one of my colleagues. I also have a post talking about it if you want to check it out click here.

10) Oldest book I've read?

Does the "Odyssey" by Homer count? If it does, then that's probably the one. It's surely the oldest one I can think of.

11) Newest book you've read?

I have no idea, I don't really keep track of how recent the books are and I'm definitely not one to chase the newest releases every year.

12) Favourite author?

So far I don't have one and I couldn't pick just one if my life depended on it... 😜

13) Buying books or borrowing books?

Ideally, I would love to be able to buy all the books I want and have a beautiful library in my home. Unfortunately, I cannot afford this right now so I settle for a combination of borrowing, exchanging, and downloading books. Borrowing is fine and I could go on exclusively borrowing books if the situation in my country was different. Sadly, in my country, we have very few libraries which have a limited variety of books (especially the ones I'm interested in) and the conditions are not the greatest in them. Also, due to this lack of libraries and borrowing mentality, sadly, most people also lack civilization and respect for borrowed books.

14) A book you dislike that everyone else seems to love?

The TMI series by Cassandra Clare. Her - and her books' - fanbase seems huge, so many people love those books and the author. All I can say is that I cannot see what they find in them and I'm surely not one of them.

15) Bookmarks or dogears?

Definitely bookmarks. I hate dog-earring. I don't mind writing on books, taking notes, or underlining, but I can't stand or understand dogears. (At least in novels, because I love dog-earring school and uni books, it really helped me back in the day)

16) A book you can always re-read?

Any one of my favourite books. But I have found that each time I re-read "Living, Loving and Learning I feel like a different person and probably even become a bit of a better person after I'm done.

17) Can you read while listening to music?

No, I prefer to have absolute silence while I read.

18) One POV or multiple POV's?

I love them both as long as they are done well and they complement and fit the story. They both have a place in different kinds of stories and I love to see them both as long as they are the right choice for the respective story.

19) Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

Though I have finished books in one sitting quite a few times, I'm generally a slow reader both because of circumstances like limited time and heavy schedule and because of preference and choice.

My Life In Books Tag

Hello, book friends!

I found this tag over in The Journeys of a Girl blog and I really loved it so I had to do it! So, here it is... My life in books!!!

1. Find a book for each of your initials

My initials are FMM and for this one, I'll pick books from my TBR list.
F ---> "Firestarter" by Stephen King
M --> "Memoirs of a Geisha" by Arthur Golden
M --> "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult

2. Count your age along your bookshelf: What book is it?

I am 28 years old, so I counted 28 books and I fell upon...
"The Raven Boys" by Maggie Stiefvater
I haven't read this one yet but it is very high on my TBR list and I really want to read it soon!

3. Pick a book set in your city/country

I am from Greece and for this one I'll go with "The Island" by Victoria Hislop. I read this one a long time ago and I absolutely loved it. I thought it was a brilliant book, but I am sad to say I don't remember it well anymore, so I really want to reread it sometime.

4. Pick a book that represents a destination you’d love to travel to

I really want to visit the UK; all of it! I want to travel to England, Ireland, Scotland, all of the places in the UK and I cannot really pick which one I'd like to see most, so I had a hard time deciding which book I should pick for this one. In the end, I decided to pick "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon, which is set mostly in Scotland but features quite a few other places as well. I chose it because it is one of the books I most want to read in the near future and because I absolutely loved the series and it totally makes me want to travel and see new magical places.

5. Pick a book that’s your favorite color

I don't really have a favorite color. In my life, I love to have many colors on my clothes, my objects or my home, but in books, I really like black or white plain covers, so I'll go for a black cover for this one. I wanted to pick a book from the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. I really liked the covers of all the books in this series, even if the books are not my favorites. The two that always stood out the most to me were the covers for "Eclipse" and "Breaking Dawn". I'll choose "Breaking Dawn" because there's just something about this chess piece that I love and with black, white and red you can't miss with me.

6. Which book do you have the fondest memories of?

I couldn't possibly pick just one, but I'll go with the "Secret Seven" series since it was the favorite series of my childhood. I have a whole other post dedicated to my favorite childhood books where I talk extensively about them. If you want you can go check it out and read more about them over here

7. Which book did you have the most difficulty reading?

This will have to be "Midnight's Children" by Salman Rushdie. I thought that it was a difficult book to read and I ended up DNF'ing it.

8. Which book in your TBR pile will give you the biggest accomplishment when you finish it?

It is not a book, it is a series and it is the Harry Potter series and it'll give me a sense of accomplishment because it is a big series and I have been avoiding it for the longest time, so it's kind of a leap for me to finally finish it.

I hope you enjoyed this post. If you liked this Tag feel free to do it, I'd love to see all your different answers! I want to tag my friend Elektra over at My Trending Books!

Books I'll probably never read || Βook Tag

Hello friends! I was looking for something new to post and I found this Tag. It's a bit older, I've no idea if it is around anymore, but I still liked it and wanted to take part in it.

I initially found this tag at Cat on the bookshelf's blog, but apparently, it was created by littlespider9 channel on YouTube.

So... Let's get started!

A really hyped book you're not interested in reading?

I tried reading "Paper Towns" a while back and I really couldn't get into it. Even though I usually like John Green's books and I think he is a good writer in general, I didn't like this one. I tried watching the movie as well and I found it boring as well, so I completely gave up on it and I'm probably not going to be reading it.

A series you won't start/won't be finishing?

I can say with confidence that I won't be reading "The Mortal Instruments" series. I pretty much knew what it was about, but I was never really interested in it. It doesn't sound like the book I usually pick or enjoy reading. Still, the hype around these books was (and still is) overwhelming and this made me curious to see what the fuss was about, so a few years ago I decided to give it a try. I started reading "The City of Bones" but I DNF'd it. I couldn't get into it, I thought the writing was weak and the plot didn't seem very interesting to me. So I most probably won't try reading it again.

A classic that you're just not interested in?

I don't have any comments about this one... It's "Romeo and Juliet". No interest whatsoever to read this classic book and I probably won't ever try it.

Any genres you've never read?

There is no genre that I don't read at all, no book that I refuse to read just because it is said genre. I want and try to read a large variety of books, authors, and genres. However, there sure are certain genres that I prefer and others that I don't. I've read a little bit of every genre so far and plan to do so in the future as well, so the closest answer I can give to this question is a genre that I don't usually pick up, or it's one of my last choices. So the genre I don't usually reach for is paranormal... it's just not really my thing and out of all the genres, it's the one I'm least likely to pick.

A book on your shelves you'll probably never actually read?

"The eternal ones"... I bought this book a while back mostly because it had a beautiful cover, but I never got to read it. Many years have passed since and even though I still have it on my bookshelves and I still love the cover I don't think I'll ever read it.

I really loved this tag and I want to tag my friend over at My trending books because I'm really curious to see her answers.
